Shira and Adam’s stunningly beautiful wedding at Pioneer Works was in many ways a meeting of the traditional and the modern. Located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, Pioneer Works, a research and cultural center devoted to the arts, is a location that epitomizes Brooklyn: creative and rustic, elegantly original, so much beauty contained in one square block. With such a compassionate and free-spirited bride and groom, coupled with an artistic venue, I couldn’t ask for an environment more conducive for creativity.
Framed around their Orthodox Jewish ceremony, elements of Shira and Adam’s Judaism are subtly weaved throughout the film. The couple’s large family and close friends are bathed in warm light at the venue emphasizing their genuine love for one another. From Shira’s father’s heartfelt Hebrew blessing to text decorations encouraging a toast to life, the day was filled with images and moments that show the beauty in our relationships and the importance of living life to its fullest.
It was such a pleasure working with a couple as sweet and kind-hearted as Shira and Adam. Every time I hear their vows to one another I’m overcome with emotion. Their words are so powerful and they have so much love for one another.
In one of the final moments of the film, Shira and Adam stand closely to each other outdoors during their photoshoot. In between shots, the bride and groom nuzzle, smiling and kissing each other softly. It’s moments like these that I yearn to capture every day - they inspire me to love. Enjoy!
