Jenna and Joe’s Quaker ceremony was held at Solebury Friends Meetinghouse on a beautiful Saturday morning in October. There was a feeling of serenity being in this rural community on the Delaware River as the air was crisp and the ground was covered in the warm colors of autumn leaves. Friends and family gathered to sit in silent worship in celebration of the beautiful couple. This seemed appropriate for few words could describe the tranquil beauty of Jenna and Joe’s wedding ceremony.

The structure of the Quaker wedding, as explained by the bride’s uncle in the beginning of the piece, frames the entire first half of the film. Faces are revealed slowly, the first minute resembling wisps of memories before Jenna is shown preparing for their special day. Early on there’s beauty in its simplicity: No loud parties, no big crowds, just Jenna and a few members of her family and Joe waiting anxiously with his best man. At the conclusion of their ceremony, friends and family were invited outside the meetinghouse where they greeted the newlyweds and conversed over apple cider and cinnamon donuts - perfectly fitting for the day!

Upon arriving at Prallsville Mills for the reception, Jenna and Joe’s elegant design details worked perfectly with the venue and heightened its rustic aesthetic. Warm lighting, hand-crafted ornaments and tables decorated in twine and mason jars made an already special day an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was planned in a way that was just as conscious, just as tailored to their guests happiness and comfort as it was to Jenna and Joe.

The final twenty seconds of the film highlights various quiet moments throughout the day. They could almost be viewed as outtakes: Jenna looks to the sky in the cornfield, Joe smiles into the camera and the couple laugh with one another at their ceremony and reception. It’s subtle moments like these that happen every day and bring so much happiness to our lives. And there’s no greater joy than experiencing them with someone we love. Congratulations to Jenna and Joe. Enjoy!
